Traditional Uses/ Ceremonies

Corn is a central part of the Navajo, Apache, Hopi, Zuni, Acoma, Laguna, and Isleta Pueblos. Navajo and apache have use the pollen in daily prayers, cure illness, puberty, and marriage ceremonies. Corn meal or pollen can be offered to the rising sun with a prayer. The hopi people live near areas that have high mesa with about "10 to 13" inches of rain fall for a year. The rain helps the growth,richness, and well-being of the corn.
